The Hudson Hair Salon is making big waves in town and not just when it comes to hair.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe pride ourselves on the highest level of service we offer to our guests,\u201d says Tasha, who was raised in Huntsville and has been a hair stylist for more than 10 years. \u201cWe all get along so well. Everyone has their own different techniques.\u201d<\/p>\n

There is a real feeling of family at The Hudson and that\u2019s just one thing that\u2019s making it stand out from the rest. Even Tasha and Tanya\u2019s mother, Denise, works as a receptionist part-time and says she\u2019s \u201cjust happy to be here for the girls.\u201d She fits right in with her sweet and caring nature.<\/p>\n\n

Tasha attended a college for hair design in Hamilton and then spent some time taking courses in Toronto to improve her professional skills. She has been consistent in keeping herself abreast of all the latest hair and fashion trends and that certainly adds to her overall flair. She is keen to make her clients happy and cares deeply about the end result. Her sunny disposition and passion for hair is reflective in her stylings. A strong desire to make people feel their very best makes Tanya a master at what she does. Aside from managing the salon, she is also an eyelash technician and is an expert at creating beautiful, fluttering eyelashes. Hair stylist Stacey Thornton<\/strong> has been doing hair for 19 years and the last two-and-a-half have been at The Hudson. She\u2019s got charisma and a whole lot of passion for what she does and her unique personality is certainly highlighted.<\/p>\n

What sets the salon apart from anywhere else is the staff. It\u2019s more like a family. You can tell we all really get along. It\u2019s a comfy and relaxed atmosphere.

Maggie Best<\/strong> originally trained in Vancouver and arrived at The Hudson 14 months ago. She enjoys building relationships with people and says it\u2019s the clients who make every day different. She is a certified technician with the U.K.-based chemical-free line called Organic Color Systems.<\/p>\n

Kristi McLennan<\/strong> can offer you a few tips on how to tame a tousled mop and has a forte for tailoring shorter dos. She isn\u2019t afraid of curly hair either. Up until her move north, she spent six years working in Toronto at a popular salon.<\/p>\n

The Hudson also has two talented estheticians on-hand and both are equally motivated to see their clients walk out completely satisfied.<\/p>\n

Julia Gruber<\/strong> is a certified esthetician and makeup artist who has four years of experience in spa and proven nail techniques. She has a knack for nail art and is always learning new styles and trends. Beauty is more than just skin-deep and she wants clients to radiate beauty inside and out. As a makeup artist for off-site weddings, she has an affinity for meeting and working with new people.<\/p>\n

Robyn Cunningham<\/strong> is the salon\u2019s newest recruit and the resident beauty expert. She spent seven years working in Ottawa at various spas and even has an esthetician mentor course under her belt. She does everything from nails to waxing and hot rocks massages but her true passion lies in facials.<\/p>\n

\u201cSkin care is so important,\u201d she says, adding that Muskoka has so many active people whose skin is constantly exposed to the elements. \u201cI\u2019ve worked with a skincare line for four years prior to starting here and it\u2019s amazing. It combines science and nature. It\u2019s a synergy of both that works without stripping the skin or causing any damage.\u201d<\/p>\n

This past summer, due to a demand in the Lake of Bays area, The Hudson opened a small salon on Bigwin Island to cater to the cottagers who might not want to travel all the way into town to get pampered. The salon has also won four Reader\u2019s Choice Awards. The Hudson stylists are preparing to compete against a bevy of big-name makeup artists and stylists for a chance to win a Contessa Award and to be featured in Salon Magazine.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like the Academy Awards for hair stylists and makeup artists,\u201d she says. \u201cWe\u2019re all competing in different categories and will be judged by a panel of experts. One of the categories we\u2019ve entered into is a group effort category. [Winning] would mean that we\u2019re truly a team. We all give our best together. It would be recognition in a big magazine around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both Tasha and Tanya recognize the importance of being able to give back to the community.
