That is the basic premise of today\u2019s column. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E209\">Partner has an unlimited hand when he responds to you with a new suit for his second bid. He is looking for a possible game or slam contract. You must bid again. Your options are included in these guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Guideline One<\/strong>: One No-Trump or 2NT WITH NO JUMP are two bids you can make to say you have nothing more in your hand to bid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E234\"><strong>Guideline Two<\/strong>: Rebidding one of your suits or one of partner\u2019s suits also indicates you have nothing more to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E244\"><strong>Guideline Three<\/strong>: If you bid a new suit you are forcing partner to bid again unless partner has passed already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E247\"><strong>Guideline Four<\/strong>: Partner\u2019s opening bid is PASS. Now the only way partner can be forced to bid is if you have a conventional agreement such as the strong Two Clubs opening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E260\">Next Week: Examples of forcing responses made by you or your partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E267\">Remember, as we all fight COVID-19 with social isolation, if you want your Bridge fix, online competition is available for all skill levels.
