This means that after your Left Hand Opponent (LHO) opening bid, partner does his best to get into the bidding with the Overcall. How do you respond to partner\u2019s Overcall with the following hands?<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E217\"><strong>Case 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E221\">Spades Kxx<br>Hearts Kxx<br>Diamonds xxx<br>Clubs Kxxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E247\">Case 1: LHO opens One Diamond. Partner Overcalls One Spade. The opponents opened so partner probably does not have a lot of values. Therefore a supporting bid of Two Spades limits your hand to the 6-9 point range. You have nothing more to say and will PASS anything partner bids unless he makes a forcing bid. A new suit by partner is forcing for one round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E266\"><strong>Case 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E268\">Spades Qxxxx<br>Hearts Jx<br>Diamonds xxx<br>Clubs KQx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E299\">Case 2: LHO opens One Club. Partner Overcalls One Heart. You bid a new suit, One Spade. It does not limit your hand but forces partner to bid for one round. You have said all there is to say about your hand. You will PASS unless partner bids a new suit which again would be forcing for one more round of bidding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E324\"><strong>Case 3:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E326\">Spades void<br>Hearts xxx<br>Diamonds QJxxx<br>Clubs xxxxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E351\">Case 3: Your LHO opens One Spade. Your partner Overcalls Two Clubs. He guarantees ten points or more and a good five-card Club Suit. With your void and long Clubs, you are strong enough to show support in Clubs. Bid Three Clubs.
