In exchange, the original charges of perjury and obstructing a peace officer were dropped. He was sentenced to three months of conditional house arrest and another three months in which he\u2019ll have to maintain a curfew of 12 to 6 a.m. and serve 30 hours of community service.<\/p>\n<p>The charges are related to incidents associated with a property the municipality rented to former tenant Blackbird Boats. Finley was charged for swearing a false affidavit in which he denied knowledge of the sale of a router the tenant left behind after it was evicted for rental and utility arrears.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong> <broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The ordeal has already cost the municipality an estimated $250,000 including the arrears the tenant owed, which the Town has written off.<\/p>\n<p>The Town has a bylaw in place which makes it responsible for any legal fees incurred by its employees while conducting municipal business unless the employee is found guilty of misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>In a written statement to Doppler, Huntsville CAO Denise Corry states, &#8220;The Town of Huntsville will not be pursuing reimbursement of legal fees spent to date related to the charge of perjury against Mr. Finley.  All factors were considered by Council when this decision was made and it was believed to be in the Town&#8217;s best interest not to proceed in this regard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Corry said Council directed staff not to seek reimbursement for Finley\u2019s legal fees in a closed session of Council on January 25, 2016.
