Some of us will also have ample time to reflect on what\u2019s really important: our health and doing our best to protect the health of those more vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Kathy Kristiansen is 38 and has lived in Huntsville her whole life. She will probably be on her own this Christmas. With further COVID restrictions looming, she\u2019s not sure she\u2019ll be invited to spend Christmas with anyone else. Her father who does not live with her is away, and her mother died two years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis will be the second Christmas without her,\u201d lamented Kristiansen who lives in District housing and has a disability yet manages to stay upbeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She\u2019s thankful for community support, is an advocate for people with disabilities, and is very giving of the little she has. She makes necklaces and gives out candy to people she thinks deserve it because they help others, and sometimes she just does it randomly, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2021\/12\/Kathys-gifts-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-107057\" width=\"190\" height=\"252\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">She agrees to meet me for a photo. \u201cI made it,\u201d she tells me, referring to a piece of beaded jewellery. \u201cI brought you some candy, too,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I accept, knowing her gifts come from the heart. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kristiansen recently took to a Facebook page called Help Her Out &#8211; Huntsville and made a rather special request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI wish that someone would write me a heartfelt letter like my mother would of wrote to her daughter for Christmas,\u201d she wrote. \u201cIf anyone has anytime I would [definitely]\u2026 appreciate a letter for Christmas. It&#8217;s not the same without my mom! Thanks!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judging from the response her post elicited, she will likely get a few letters and perhaps read them on Christmas morning with a hot cup of cocoa. One group member asked her for her address, which she posted in the group.
