{"id":105860,"date":"2021-11-25T14:03:51","date_gmt":"2021-11-25T19:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=105860"},"modified":"2021-11-25T14:03:52","modified_gmt":"2021-11-25T19:03:52","slug":"local-business-recognized-by-wsib","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/local-business-recognized-by-wsib\/","title":{"rendered":"Local business recognized by WSIB"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Main photo: Ron Dahl accepts the WSIB award on behalf of his company, First General Muskoka (WSIB \/ YouTube)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Submitted by WSIB Ontario<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The top three recipients of the Small Business Health and Safety Leadership Awards were announced during the WSIB\u2019s Celebration of Health and Safety event on November 25, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>First General Muskoka, a small construction business owned and operated by Ron Dahl, has provided emergency and catastrophic home restoration services to the Huntsville community for more than 16 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company was recognized as this year\u2019s Silver Level winners of the WSIB\u2019s Small Business Health and Safety Leadership Awards and were presented with $3,000 that can be invested in health and safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following a tragic situation involving an employee, the management team at First General Muskoka has made their employees\u2019 mental health a key priority in their health and safety efforts. Over the past year, they\u2019ve enhanced their Worker Wellbeing Program to better address and support mental health issues \u2013 both inside and outside the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe believe health and safety goes beyond preventing workplace incidents and injuries,&#8221; said Ron Dahl, owner of First General Muskoka. \u201cIt starts with cultivating a safe and healthy work culture that prioritizes a strong, positive workplace attitude.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First General Muskoka recognizes that mental health is 24\/7 \u2013 not just 9-5. Workplace well-being isn\u2019t just something they talk about; they embody it through their practice by living it each and every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re grateful to have this platform to share our story about our approach to workplace health and safety,\u201d added Dahl. \u201cWhen it comes down to it, sharing is caring in this industry, it\u2019s how we learn and make small steps towards improvement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that\u2019s exactly what this year\u2019s WSIB Small Business Health and Safety Leadership Awards endorsed \u2013 small steps that lead to big impacts in health and safety. Since 2020 especially, small businesses owners have had to adapt quickly, put workplace health and safety first, and find new and creative ways to improve how they do things.
