{"id":105730,"date":"2021-11-22T14:05:04","date_gmt":"2021-11-22T19:05:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=105730"},"modified":"2021-11-22T14:08:07","modified_gmt":"2021-11-22T19:08:07","slug":"police-investigating-discovery-of-human-remains-off-gryffin-lodge-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/police-investigating-discovery-of-human-remains-off-gryffin-lodge-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Police investigating discovery of human remains off Gryffin Lodge Road"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating the discovery of human remains in Huntsville.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>On Sunday, November 21, 2021, a member of the public called the OPP to report human remains located on a property near Gryffin Lodge Road in Huntsville. Uniformed officers attended the property and discovered human remains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 56-year-old Huntsville man was arrested in relation to this incident and has been charged with Indignity to Human Remains, contrary to Section 182(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada. On November 22, 2021, he appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The case is subject to a court-ordered publication ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Huntsville OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), and assisted by OPP Central Region Forensic Identification Services and the OPP Central Region Emergency Response Team. The investigation is being conducted in collaboration with&nbsp;the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. The Ontario Forensic Pathology Service is attempting to determine the identity of the person associated to the located human remains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investigators are asking anyone with information to call Huntsville OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can also submit your information online at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ontariocrimestoppers.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/ontariocrimestoppers.ca<\/a>.
