Remember, Two Diamonds is a waiting bid, a catch-all bid for no suit.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E218\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E230\">This week we have examples of hands where you consider which response to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E233\"><strong>Case 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E235\">Spades Axxxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E241\">Hearts J<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E246\">Diamonds xxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E251\">Clubs xxxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E259\">Case 1: Your partner opens Two Clubs. With your six points including one length point, you should bid Two Diamonds \u2013 waiting \u2013 because your Spades are not strong enough to bid Two Spades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E267\"><strong>Case 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E269\">Spades Axxxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E275\">Hearts A<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E280\">Diamonds xxxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E286\">Clubs Kxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E296\">Case 2: Again partner opens Two Clubs. Again you bid Two Diamonds, this time with twelve points including one length point. Note that 22 + 12 points is slam territory. So you do not want to stop short of slam. Your Two Diamond bid is forcing. Listen to your partner\u2019s bid and then jump in Spades to show your strength. You can do this because you have told partner already that you do not have a good Spade suit when you bid Two Diamonds. Eventually you will force the partnership to slam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E325\"><strong>Case 3:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E327\">Spades xxxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E333\">Hearts A<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E338\">Diamonds xxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E344\">Clubs xxxxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E353\">Case 3: Partner opens Two Clubs. With this hand you are almost bust but your singleton Ace could be very valuable.
