{"id":104183,"date":"2021-10-18T14:39:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-18T18:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=104183"},"modified":"2021-10-18T14:39:00","modified_gmt":"2021-10-18T18:39:00","slug":"opp-lay-weapons-charges-against-lake-of-bays-man","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/opp-lay-weapons-charges-against-lake-of-bays-man\/","title":{"rendered":"OPP lay weapons charges against Lake of Bays  man"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On October 16, 2021, at 12:24 a.m., members of the Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police Detachment received a report of shots being fired while a vehicle was being chased by a motorcycle eastbound on Britannia Road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vehicle being chased was eventually forced off the road and the motorcycle fled westbound on Britannia Road.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of the investigation on October 16, 2021, Shawn Harwood, 28, of Lake of Bays Township, was located and arrested. Harwood was also found to be noncompliant with two previous release orders and charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CC):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Mischief to property under $5000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Failure to stop after accident<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Two counts of failure to comply with release order.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The accused was held for a Bail Hearing scheduled on October 16, 2021. The accused was held in custody until the next scheduled court date on October 19, 2021, in the Ontario Court of Justice Huntsville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were no injuries to any of the involved parties and no danger exists to the general public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investigation is continuing and updates will be provided when available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The OPP is asking anyone with information about this occurrence to please contact the Huntsville OPP Detachment at 705-789-5551 or the OPP Provincial Communication Centre at 1-888-310-1122.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also provide information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers of Simcoe Dufferin Muskoka at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at <a href=\"http:\/\/ontariocrimestoppers.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ontariocrimestoppers.ca<\/span><\/a>.
