Huntsville Public Library is the recipient of the 2015 Angus Mowat Award of Excellence (Medium Public Libraries) for the Sustainability @ HPL initiative. The Angus Mowat Award of Excellence recognizes a commitment to excellence in the delivery of public library service.<\/p>\n

The foundation for the sustainability project at Huntsville Public Library is built into the sustainability framework for the Town of Huntsville. This project shows continued support of sustainability (the quality of not being harmful to the environment and thereby supporting long-term ecological balance) through collections, services, and innovative programs held at the library.<\/p>\n

The award was presented at the Public Library Services Awards in Toronto at the Ontario Library Association Super Conference. Cortney Lee-Comeau (Coordinator) and Deborah Duce (CEO\/Chief Librarian) accepted the reward from Sophie Kiwala (Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport) and Kevin Finnerty (Assistant Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport).<\/p>\n

The Library is thrilled to receive this award and would like to thank both the Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Sport and the Ontario Library Association for this honor. Cortney Lee-Comeau and Deborah Duce would also like to thank Sustainability Coordinator Rebecca Francis for her knowledge, ideas, and inspiration to the Library. The Library looks forward to continuing to support the Town\u2019s sustainability initiatives through collections, programs, resources and technologies.<\/p>\n
