{"id":100499,"date":"2021-07-18T05:01:00","date_gmt":"2021-07-18T09:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=100499"},"modified":"2021-07-16T20:02:33","modified_gmt":"2021-07-17T00:02:33","slug":"art-fx-28-summer-solstice-laura-adamiak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/art-fx-28-summer-solstice-laura-adamiak\/","title":{"rendered":"Art Fx #28: &#8220;summer solstice&#8221; by Laura Adamiak"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Art Fx is a year-long series on Huntsville Doppler featuring Huntsville-area visual artists<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;summer solstice&#8221; by Laura Adamiak is a woven-fabric wall hanging created with tye dye fabric from Moon Over Water and gifted, thrifted threads from family, suspended from beaver wood foraged from the forest near her home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I was inspired to create this piece with the image of explosive creation and sunshine, that the summer brings both life and light back into our world,&#8221; says Laura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Laura&#8217;s wall hangings are typically made out of wood, fabric, leather, yarn, and other forest finds. &#8220;The wood comes from our daily adventures in our 30-acre forest; these are pieces of tree that have fallen to land or have been enjoyed and left behind by a nomadic beaver friend.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the fabric, &#8220;one of my main sources are the end cuts from Moon Over Water and other local makers such as Muskoka Tye Dye. It\u2019s wonderful to be able to repurpose and support other local makers who express a similar creative passion,&#8221; says Laura. &#8220;The yarn, thread, leather, and other materials are all either thrifted, gifted, or repurposed. There are no new materials used in the making of my art, as I aim to repurpose the little bits of fabric and thread into beautiful creations.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2021\/07\/summer-solstice-by-Laura-Adamiak-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-100527\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>&#8220;summer solstice&#8221; is currently available for purchase at Sustain Eco Store in Huntsville for $60.<br><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2021\/07\/Laura-Adamiak-648x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-100529\" width=\"229\" height=\"362\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the artist<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My name is Laura Adamiak and I live in beautiful Huntsville with my husband and young son in our log home we built ourselves a few years back. I spend my days tucked in the woods where I unschool our son and create one-of-a-kind artwork.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I create both art, song, and poetry and share these offerings through my <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/falling.to.land\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;falling to land&#8221;
