The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has launched an investigation into an alleged incident involving the Bracebridge OPP and a Gravenhurst woman.
According to an SIU spokesperson, at approximately 11 p.m. on June 5, 2024, Ontario Provincial Police officers were dispatched to a residence in Gravenhurst to arrest a 37-year-old woman in relation to a robbery.
Officers briefly spoke with the woman at the door, who then closed the door on the officers. The officers breached the door and located her inside. Worried about the woman’s well-being, she was transported to hospital for treatment.
The SIU investigation was opened on June 6 and is listed as “Custody Injury OPP Bracebridge Detachment.”
