MEDIA RELEASE
The District Municipality of Muskoka (District) transitioned to direct delivery of ambulance services on September 4, 2016. The District is marking this transition by rebranding the service to “Muskoka Paramedic Services” from “Muskoka EMS” to more accurately reflect the work performed by paramedics and to distinguish themselves from other emergency service providers. This change is in keeping with the many other ambulance services throughout Ontario which have already rebranded their service.
“The change will achieve cost savings and maintain the highest quality paramedic service available for Muskoka,” explains John Klinck, District Chair at the District Municipality of Muskoka. “Muskokans deserve the very best access to pre-hospital care and Muskoka Paramedic Services will continue to provide just that.”
The paramedic service has a stellar reputation both locally and across the Province as a result of the skill, performance and excellent clinical care that paramedics deliver to our communities. We are honoured and excited to add paramedics to the District team.
Michael Duben, Chief Administrative Officer at the District Municipality of Muskoka
“With our unique geography, influx of tourists, and seasonal population increases, Muskoka requires responsive paramedic services that can reactively and proactively meet evolving demand.” Jeff McWilliam, Chief of Paramedic Services and Emergency Management at the District Municipality of Muskoka. “Muskoka Paramedic Services will continue to provide excellent care to the wonderful residents and many visitors who live in or visit Muskoka, and I am thrilled to be working with the many dedicated paramedic professionals who have been serving this District so well for years.”
