Update: Effective May 15, the fire ban has been lifted for the Muskoka area and the fire danger rating has been set to moderate. Small fires are permitted in most rural areas.
The Muskoka fire chiefs remind residents that a total fire ban remains in effect.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) continues to implement a Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ) for Muskoka due to impacts related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Restrictions in place during the ban include:
• No open fires (all burning including grass, debris and campfires, even when using an outdoor fire grate, fire place, fire pit or burn barrel)
• No fireworks
