It’s official. On its website, Giant Tiger has announced that it plans to open a new location at Huntsville Place Mall on June 10, 2023.
Although unconfirmed, former and current mall merchants say the store will be located on the Winners side of the mall. Winners will have its own street entrance and some of the businesses on that side of the mall are expected to move to the other end, closer to the grocery store, thereby freeing up space for the new box store.
The Habitat for Humanity ReStore will also be on the move. The space is listed for lease at $11,000/month. Huntsville Doppler reached out to the organization and Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North CEO Kimberley Woodcock said the plan is to relocate its Huntsville store late this year or early next year.
“Our current lease for the space expires this year and we are keen to relocate to a space that is more visible and more accessible to customers and donors,” she noted via email.
Coles bookstore announced its closure effective December 31, 2021, much to the dismay of many in the community, and Anthony’s Hair Salon recently moved to Howland Drive.
Repeated calls to Effort Trust, the mall’s commercial property management group, for comment on the changes were not returned.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
