The Huntsville Curling Club’s (HCC) Access125 campaign is well underway to make curling an inclusive sport in Huntsville.
Access125 will contribute $125,000 towards accessibility requirements including:
- an accessible club entrance,
- a lift to allow participants to move to each level of the club,
- accessible washroom and change room facilities.
The campaign kicked off with the Saddle Up! Huntsville fundraising event in September 2023 where a sold-out crowd enjoyed some great food, fun, and entertainment. Through Saddle Up! and the generous donations of many curlers, sponsors and community supporters our current Access125 total is $34,549. Thanks Huntsville!
The HCC’s first step towards Accessibility is now complete! A garage-like addition alongside the curling rink has been constructed which now houses the ice maker equipment. This new addition has freed up the necessary space in the lower level required to proceed with the remaining accessibility renovations.
With our partners, Duncan Ross Architects and DaviCor Construction, our goal is to start work in the spring of 2024 on an accessible entryway. The new portico-covered entryway will include automatic double entry doors leading into the new entrance and the barrier-free accessible foyer begins.
Our next FUNdraiser is the Valentine’s Wine, Craft Beer and Spirits Raffle. Tickets are on sale now with the proceeds to help us get closer to our Access125 goals. Buy your tickets today for a chance to win five baskets with the grand prize valued at $650! Tickets will be on sale until February 13th with the Valentines Raffle draw taking place at 7:00 pm on February 14th at the HCC. Tickets are $20. Get yours today. Get your tickets, HERE.
