DESCRIPTION:A loppet can be defined as “a great gathering of skiers who ski on a specifically groomed trail either classic (diagonal stride) or free (skating technique) of various distances.” – Cross Country Canada \nThe Muskoka Loppet is a fun\, competitive event for everyone – classic only\, no skate. Due to construction at Arrowhead Provincial Park\, the Lumby Trail is closed and we have rerouted the course. There are 4 km\, 17 km\, and 24 km options. Some will be serious but there will also be comedy numbers to lighten the mood!  There will be songs for adults and songs for kids\, including some audience sing-along numbers! \nIn addition to the Muskoka Music Mix chorus\, there will be quartet performances by Two Four Time and Makin’ Waves\, plus a new group: the Treble Makers.  Add another duet performance\, and some solo vocals by Frank Berg on piano.  and you truly have  a variety concert with something for everyone! To top it  off\, admission is by freewill donation! \nThe converts will be held at the at 3:00 PM. on Saturday\, December 6 at the United Church in Bracebridge\, and on Sunday\, December 7 in at Trinity United Church in Huntsville.

DESCRIPTION:The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department is gearing up for the 37th annual Project Porchlight Food Drive in support of the Salvation Army. \n\n\nBeginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday\, December 3\, fire trucks\, alongside partners from the OPP\, EMS\, Public Works\, and Motorcyclists of Muskoka\, will be travelling house-to-house across our community to collect non-perishable food donations.\n\n\nResidents who wish to participate are asked to turn their porchlight on and place their non-perishable donations at the end of their driveway or on their porch\, where first responders and volunteers will collect them. \nFor nearly four decades\, Project Porchlight has been a cherished community tradition\, supporting the Salvation Army as it distributes food to families and individuals throughout the year. \n“We’re proud to be bringing back this long-standing tradition for its 37th year\,” says Steve Markham\, Fire Prevention Officer for Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department. “These continue to be challenging times for many in our community.
