DESCRIPTION:Our Summer series this year is called Songs of Summer and is a fun collection of music that is sure to entertain you. As usual\, we have different programs for each concert so you will have the chance to hear lots of great music all through July. We have a couple of great marches for those of you who like a bit of tradition in your concert – Holiday Frolic and Hostrauser’s March. There will be some Canadian content with two Newfoundland folk songs arranged by Jim Duff. The beautiful melodies of She’s Like a Swallow and the Petty Harbour Bait Skiff are sure to delight. \nWe have lots of popular music in this year’s programs as well including Owl City’s Fireflies\, Disney at the Movies\, Broadway Spectacular\, Hendando’s Hideaway from the Pajama Game\, Tijuana Taxi\, some music of the 1960’s in a selection called Bobby Sox Saturday Night\, and even some swing band music in Instant Swing Concert. \nJoin us for any or all of our concerts. All are free (free-will donations are happily accepted) and will be outside in our beautiful Muskoka settings. Bring your lawn chair\, a hat and a cool drink and join us for the Songs of Summer!

Local pastries from Frenchie’s Bakery Creperie will be provided. \nThis event is family-friendly and hosted by the Lake of Bays Township Public Library. \nJames Morehead is the Poet Laureate of Dublin\, California\, host of the Viewless Wings Poetry Podcast\, and has published several collections of poetry including “canvas”\, “portraits of red and gray”\, and “The Plague Doctor.” James’ poem “tethered” was transformed into an award-winning hand drawn animated short film\, “gallery” was set to music for baritone and piano\, and his poems have appeared in the Ignatian Literary Magazine\, Beyond Words Literary Magazine\, 2nd Place – Oprelle Oxbow Poetry Contest 2022\, Citron Review\, Ekphrastic Review\, Loud Coffee Pres\, Cathexis Northwest Press\, and other publications. James has performed his poetry at the Patagonia Poet Laureate Celebration\, on the SF Chronicle’s Total SF podcast\, on NPR’s Poetically Yours\, as Guest Poet at the 20th Annual Haiku Festival (Chicago)\, and other events.

DESCRIPTION:Every summer on the third Saturday in June\, we gather the community and returning cottagers for a dinner and silent auction to kick off the summer at the Lake of Bays Community Centre in Baysville.\n\nIt is a vital fundraising event\, benefiting the community groups\, and individual bursaries that can be found on this website.  This attraction has become a main event of the summer season since 2000. \nOur Surf & Turf Dinner opens its doors at 5:30 pm for cocktails\, dinner starts at 6:30 pm and runs until approximately 10 pm. \nYou will have the choice between lobster & beef or just beef dinners\, as well as red or white wine for your table. Tickets sell out fast. Once tickets become available\, there will be announcements on Social Media\, this website\, as well as the Lake of Bays Curling & Bocce Club website\, so get your tickets before they are gone! FEED the MIND is an initiative of the CFUW Muskoka Chapter to support their Bursary Fund. \nCFUW Muskoka Feed the Mind is a fundraiser in which three restaurants\, one in each of Bracebridge\, Gravenhurst and Huntsville\,  will donate a portion of the proceeds from sale of a specific menu item during the month of June to CFUW Muskoka Charitable Trust Bursary Fund. \nThe restaurants are Barrel House in Bracebridge\, Frosty Pint Pub in Gravenhurst and Westside Fish & Chips in Huntsville. South Muskoka Curling & Golf Club is making a contribution from Ladies Night during June. \nThe event is sponsored by Stephen’s Butcher Shop\, Port Carling.
