Sound Travels Outdoor Installation

The NAISA North Media Arts Centre in South River is hosting an outdoor interactive art exhibition that is open until September 26 from 10 AM to 4 PM everyday except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The exhibition features Gong Show by Jesse Stewart and Orbits by Mixed Metaphors (Jesse Stewart and Matt Edwards.)
Gong Show consists of motion-controlled gongs suspended from the NAISA building. As people move within the field of view of the front window, their movement activates the gongs. Orbits re-purposes a circular ball machine – not unlike what might be found in a Science Museum. Visitors are invited to turn a wheel that releases ball bearings that orbit its interior concave surface. Microphones and sound processing magnify and transform the sonic dimension of the piece.
