This calendar is reserved for non-commercial community events. What does that mean? Your event must be free or of nominal cost, available to anyone (although adult-only events are fine), and not for profit (but we do make exception for artists showing their work who would profit from any sales made and musicians hosting small-scale concerts). Not sure if your event fits? Drop us a line at huntsville@doppleronline.ca to check, or go ahead and submit anyhow – submissions are moderated and we’ll approve yours if it fits our criteria. Thanks for helping make Huntsville a vibrant community!

Tourism was flourishing in Lake of Bays in the late 1800s, as people sought relief from the pollution, smog and heat of summers in the northeastern USA and Toronto. In 1905, Joseph Tapley left his career on the English and Australian stage, where he performed with Gilbert and Sullivan, and came to settle on a section of land on Lake of Bays. From this beginning as an entertainer’s farm, the property gradually evolved into one of the oldest cottage resorts in Muskoka that is still operated by the same family. Come and learn about this extraordinary journey with Joseph’s grand-daughter, Nancy Tapley.
