It’s time to bring back our Clean-up Days!

Team-up with Your Neighbours. By working together, we can make a difference!

1990 was the last time the Lake Vernon Association organized an LVA Clean-up Event.

Well, it is time to do it again, and hopefully this will become an annual event.

In planning the clean-up, our goal was to make it simple, free, social (with distancing) and fun. Although originally the clean-up was planned for spring, we delayed it due to Covid restrictions. Our new 2021 timeframe and details:

When:
Saturday Sept. 18th to Sunday October 10th
We set a flexible timeframe so that you can pick a date that works best for you and
your neighbours.

Where:
Roadsides on a portion of Muskoka Road 2 (Ravenscliffe) and Muskoka Road 3
-We picked these roads since most LVA members travel these roads to access their properties. The other reason is the amount of litter we see scattered along the Muskoka Road 2 & 3 roadsides.
-As part of sign-up, you will pick either Muskoka Road 2 or Muskoka Road 3. We will email or call you once we receive your sign-up information letting you know which portion of the road you have been assigned to (roads have been divided into sections that are approximately 1-3 km in length).

Who:
Your family and your neighbours
-Ask your neighbours to join in and make it a fun socially distanced event. Participants do not have to be LVA members.

Supplies:
Supplies Donated
-Recycle bags and gloves were provided by Brent Stapleton, Coldwell Banker Thompson Real Estate.
-You can pick up your supplies at Ruthven Marine on the weekends starting Sept. 11th until October 10th (check Ruthven Marine Facebook page for their hours). If these dates do not work for you, please email us at lva@lake-vernon.com with the subject line “Clean-up” and we will arrange for an alternate pick-up time and place.

Logistics:
Recycle, where possible
-Please put paper products in a separate bag from plastics/glass. Please also take your own garbage bags for any non-recyclable litter.

Safety first:
Stay Save – your participation is at your own risk.
-Some safety reminders – please wear appropriate footwear, handle sharp objects carefully, social distance and beware of passing cars.

Litter:
Part of your regular pick-up
-Since there is no limit to the number of recycle bags you can put out, it may be easiest to put the litter bags with your regular recycle bins.
-If this is not convenient or you have more garbage bags than your weekly limit, please email us at lva@lake-vernon.ca (in the subject please put “Clean-up Pick-up”) and we will arrange for roadside pick-up.

Celebrate our efforts:
Take pictures along the way
-Email your pictures with comments (your team members, and where you focused your clean-up efforts). Email by October 31st to lva@lake-vernon.ca with the subject “Our Clean-up Day”.
-We will post pictures and comments on our website.

Awesome draw prizes:
Clean-up Day prizes donated by local realtors
-We will draw from all the emails received by October 31st for Clean-up Day prizes donated by local realtors.
-There are some awesome prizes e.g. $50 gift certificate for The Family Place Restaurant, $10 gift certificate for Beaver Tails – these are just a few examples so send in your pictures and write-ups!

Thank you to:
-All who signed up to participate in the LVA Clean-up
-The following realtors who provided clean-up supplies or prizes for our draw:
▪ Coldwell Banker Thompson Real Estate (Brent Stapleton)
▪ Royal LePage (Shelley Reville)
▪ Royal LePage (Wearing & Parrott)
▪ Re/Max Professionals North Brokerage (Dan Pinckard)
-Ruthven Marine (Mike Schmidt) who let us distribute the clean-up supplies from the marine.
