You are here: Home / Events / POSTPONED Inaugural Masquerade Ball in support of Artists in the Schools program

This calendar is reserved for non-commercial community events. What does that mean? Your event must be free or of nominal cost, available to anyone (although adult-only events are fine), and not for profit (but we do make exception for artists showing their work who would profit from any sales made and musicians hosting small-scale concerts). Not sure if your event fits? Drop us a line at huntsville@doppleronline.ca to check, or go ahead and submit anyhow – submissions are moderated and we’ll approve yours if it fits our criteria. Thanks for helping make Huntsville a vibrant community!

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL A LATER DATE. STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS

The Huntsville Art Society (HAS) has long had a desire to develop an Artists in the Schools program which would support local elementary classrooms with art instruction by local artists.

To raise funds for the project, HAS is hosting a Masquerade Ball on October 27 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Legion. Organizers are further supporting student creativity through music—members of Tonic Lane, the band they’ve hired for the evening, are current and former Huntsville High School students.

If you need some costume inspiration, More Than Just Art (15 Manominee Street beside Fabricland) is holding a mask-making workshop this Wednesday, October 17 from 7-9 p.m. (with a second date on October 24 for painting once the masks have dried). The cost of the workshop is $40; materials are included.

The Masquerade Ball will include adult face painting, limited costume rentals, a silent auction of artistically carved pumpkins, and dancing. Tickets are $25 at The Great Vine, More Than Just Art and Christmas Tyme.
