Commemoration signs to be placed in River Mill Park to honour the Kamloops 215
June 25 @ 9:00 am - 8:00 pm
On Friday June 25, from 9:00am – 8:00pm, River Mill Park in the Town of Huntsville will be a community location to receive 215 Commemorative and Awareness Raising Signs in honour of the 215 indigenous child victims found at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia.
The commemorative signs are a collaboration lead by Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Scott Aitchison and local community advocate Trisha Cowie as an opportunity for Muskoka Communities to pay respect, raise awareness and learn more about residential schools.
While Huntsville receives the signs next Friday, a memorial ceremony with invited guests will be held in Bracebridge on Monday, June 21 at 1:00pm in Memorial Park.
Community members who wish to pay respects in Huntsville are welcome to visit River Mill Park between 9:00am – 8:00pm on Friday, June 25 when the commemorative signs will be exhibited.
