Art Fx is a year-long series on Huntsville Doppler featuring Huntsville-area visual artists.
“Canoe Lake” by Billy MacPherson is a 9″ x 12″ acrylic on masonite board.
“Earlier this summer, I was following the old rail line north of Canoe Lake in search of the location for the old rail station site when I came across these two having breakfast,” Billy recalls. “I watched for about 20 minutes and was totally inspired to head to the studio and paint this. I lived above that rail station in 1952 and ’53 with my parents. Dad was the operator at the station.”
